Green Silicon Carbide: High-Efficiency Opacifier for High-Temperature Thermal Insulation

Green Silicon Carbide (Green SiC) micro-powder is a professional high-performance infrared opacifier specially developed for high-temperature thermal insulation materials. Featuring a high refractive index, excellent thermal stability and chemical inertness, it has become an irreplaceable shading additive to solve infrared radiation heat transfer, perfectly compensating for the defects of traditional opacifiers such as carbon black and titanium dioxide.

As a core opacifier material, green SiC exhibits outstanding infrared shielding performance in the medium infrared band of 2.5–8μm, which covers the main heat radiation wavelength of high-temperature equipment. Different from carbon black that is easily oxidized and lost above 500℃ and titanium dioxide with weak infrared shading capacity, green silicon carbide maintains stable physical and chemical properties at 1200℃–1400℃ for a long time. It can strongly scatter and absorb infrared thermal radiation, effectively suppress radiation heat conduction, and significantly reduce the high-temperature thermal conductivity of insulation materials.

With ultra-fine and uniform particle size (ranging from 0.5μm to 5μm), green silicon carbide opacifier boasts good dispersion and compatibility. It is widely added into high-end thermal insulation products, including silica aerogel insulation materials, vacuum insulation panels (VIP), ceramic fiber felt, and microporous insulation boards. The conventional addition ratio is 1%–6%, which can greatly improve the overall high-temperature insulation effect and service life of materials.

In addition to thermal insulation fields, green SiC opacifier is also applied in high-temperature shading coatings and ceramic glaze opacification. It provides uniform shading and matte effects for ceramic blanks, stabilizes glaze color, and enhances the wear resistance and weather resistance of functional coatings.
